I have been the patient: My Thyroid Cancer Journey.  In 2020, during the pandemic,  I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.  I subsequently, had a thyroidectomy and underwent treatment.  I was told that my life would go back to normal.  Over time I learned that there would be new normal.  As a provider on the receiving end of treatment, I was lost and afraid.  If I was this disoriented, I wondered how much more disoriented a non-medical minded person would be.  My experience has shaped the way I practice medicine.  I have made it my mission to promote thyroid awareness and thyroid resilience in my community.

Education and Experience

I received my BSN from Nova Southeastern University and my Master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Miami.  At UM, I received training in Functional, Integrative, and Complementary Medicine at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. I am a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and am board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. After several years of practice, I had the honor to be officially licensed as Autonomous Nurse Practitioner.  My career spans Geriatrics, Urgent Care, Women's Health and Primary Care.
